Macarena Carrascosa

Macarena Carrascosa

Owner and Founder of Hey Macarena

I started skating when I was 4 years old. I have 11 national titles and 2 Oceania titles. I have been to 3 Junior World Championships, 1 America’s Cup and 1 Senior World Roller Games. I have been coaching since 2010 and started teaching at ActivZone in 2015. That same year I graduated from The University of Auckland with a BSc in Sport and exercise science and Psychology. I am part of the High Performance Coaches Commission in a support role to help improve the skating of Aotearoa as a whole. In 2018, I helped start up the North Shore Artistic Roller Skating Club. I am the head coach and elected club president of NSARSC. I started my Adults Classes because I believe you’re never too old to try something new! I love coaching and encouraging all skaters to reach their full potential. Join us at our classes and fall in love with Artistic Roller Skating!

Mercedes Carrascosa

Mercedes Carrascosa

Lead coach at Adults class Auckland

I’ve been on skates ever since I could walk (2 years old!) and have been competing at NZ nationals since the age of 4! I’ve represented NZ at the Oceania championships 4 times and also at America’s Cup 2019. My first World Roller Games as a junior was in 2019 and I’m planning on doing at least 2 more! I’ve been sharing my knowledge and love for skating as a coach since 2014 and love helping to grow the sport. My favourite class to teach is the Adults Class! Can't wait to introduce you all to roller skating and how fun it can be!

Sophia Hutchinson

Sophia Hutchinson

Family and Adult Class Coach

Sophia started roller skating in July 2019. She progressed to helping with the Learn to skate classes in October 2019 and fell in love with it! Sophia got her NZFRS coaching certificate at the end of 2019 and has been a stellar addition to our coaching team ever since. Her favourite thing to do on skates is spinning. She has a ballet background and has danced for most of her life which has helped her pick up many skills quickly. She's excited to keep improving her skating skills and coaching for NSARSC and Hey Macarena at our Homeschool and Adult Learn to Skate classes.

Meet your Wellington coaches!

Katelyn Kennedy

Katelyn Kennedy

Head Coach of Hey Macarena - Wellington

Hello I'm Katelyn! I'm from Upper Hutt I began doing artistic rollerskating when I was 6 years old and instantly fell in love with the sport... Netball and swimming just didn’t quite cut it for me. With many years of hard work and determination, I have been to all kinds of competitions including National Championships in New Zealand and Australia, Oceania Championships  and I also represented New Zealand at two World Championships in China and France. Skating is my absolute passion and now I pass on my knowledge through coaching.

I have a wonderful community that I teach and it is a real privilege to be part of such a big family. I individually teach a large group of skaters who range from beginner level, all the way through to NZ representative level. I also run a learn to skate programme at the Upper Hutt Roller Skating Club which is mostly attended by school age children so I am excited to bring you adult classes!

Come and be part of our wonderful skating community. I can’t wait to see you at our first class together.

Terriann Randle

Hey Macarena Wellington Coach

Hi I’m Terriann! It was love at first sight for me and Roller Skating, I couldn’t get enough of learning jumps and spins and the feeling of perfecting a skill. I have competed nationally and internationally throughout New Zealand and Australia and cherish the life long friendships I have created with skaters from all over these countries. I skated competitively for about 7 years and now find so much fulfilment in passing on my knowledge to others. My favourite things about coaching skating are the way that the sport brings people together and the pride in a skaters face when they accomplish something they didn’t think they could do.

I am loving coaching at Wellington’s adult class and can’t wait to welcome more friendly faces into our skating family! See you there
