To celebrate the launch of Mackenzie Hudgeon’s new rental roller skate company, Crazy Eights Roller Skates, we are throwing a massive Studio 54 party at ActivZone on Saturday 24th October. Here at Hey Macarena, we love a good boogie on skates so this was the perfect opportunity to get the gals together for a glam session and a skate in an unusual space.
Inspiration hit when Sophia Hutchinson, Hey Mac roller skating coach, put a photo of her skating through the laser tag arena in Timezone Newmarket. The lights, the colours and her skates looked stunning! I just had to ask if we could shoot there. Lucky for me, they were very accommodating!
As good as we are at skating, I did not have the skills to pull off studio 54 make up and hair…. But I knew just the person for the job! Justine Conroy is a super talented make up artist and an adult class regular! Lucky she was available and willing!

Next up on things to figure out, was photography. Only one name came to mind who I knew would slay this shoot. My amazing friend Madi Collis. As a fellow skater, she understands how we move. This came in very handy in a dark, low light place. She knew the shots we wanted and she nailed it!
