Macarena Carrascosa
I started skating when I was 4 years old. I have 11 national titles and 2 Oceania titles, and I have been to 3 Junior World Championships, 1 America’s Cup and 1 Senior World Roller Games. I have been coaching since 2010 and started teaching at ActivZone in 2015, the same year I graduated from The University of Auckland with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and Psychology. I am part of the High Performance Coaches Commission in a support role to help improve the skating of Aotearoa as a whole. In 2018, I helped start up the North Shore Artistic Roller Skating Club, where I am the head coach and elected club president. I started my Adults Classes because I believe you’re never too old to try something new! I love coaching and encouraging all skaters to reach their full potential.

Mercedes Carrascosa
I’ve been on skates ever since I could walk (2 years old!) and have been competing at NZ nationals since the age of 4! I’ve represented NZ at the Oceania championships 4 times and also at America’s Cup 2019. My first World Roller Games as a junior was in 2019 and I’m planning on doing at least 2 more! I’ve been sharing my knowledge and love for skating as a coach since 2014 and love helping to grow the sport. My favourite class to teach is the Adults Class! I can't wait to introduce you all to roller skating and how fun it can be!

Sophia Hutchinson
Sophia started roller skating in July 2019. She progressed to helping with the Learn to Skate classes in October 2019 and fell in love with it! Sophia got her NZFRS coaching certificate at the end of 2019 and has been a stellar addition to our coaching team ever since. Her favourite thing to do on skates is spinning. She has a ballet background and has danced for most of her life which has helped her pick up many skills quickly. She’s excited to keep improving her skating skills and coaching for NSARSC and Hey Macarena Adult Learn to Skate classes.

Madi Collis
Madi has been on skates since she was 9 years old, and coaching since she was 15. She fell in love with being on wheels right away, and it has since seen her through all the ups and downs of life! She can’t imagine her world without it, and she feels forever grateful to be able to share that feeling with new skaters.
Madi has a BSc majoring in Psychology & Exercise Science from UoA, the knowledge from which she's constantly using both as a coach and an athlete. While she's competed nationally and internationally since a young age, and her career still continues, she started relatively late compared to a lot of competitive skaters. This has given her a great appreciation for how everyone is on their own journey - it’s never too late to start, whether you’re 13 or 30+!
